We love making a space shine without breaking the bank. You’d be surprised at what a few Kmart or Spotlight finds can do! Here’s what we focus on when styling our Nuve Escapes holiday homes:
Cosy Textiles Make a Big Difference
Think plush cushions, neutral throws, soft rugs and layered bedding to work with the triple sheeting. These little additions can transform a basic room into a warm and inviting retreat. We’re big fans of the affordable ranges from Target, Kmart, and Pillow Talk – they offer high-impact style without the high price tag.
Styling tip: Go for soft, coastal colours and natural textures like linen, jute or rattan for that relaxed beachy feel.
Books, Board Games & Little Luxuries
When we are styling a home, we always add books, puzzles and card games to our holiday homes – not just for entertainment, but to create that lived-in, loved feeling. Guests love it when they find a good read for the beach or a rainy-day puzzle to dive into with the kids. If your home is particularly family friendly, having some kids books is also a winner.
It’s these small thoughtful touches that make your home feel like more than just a rental – it feels like theirs, even if just for a few days.
Beach Essentials = Bonus Points
A few beach chairs, a lightweight umbrella or a basket of sand toys can be an absolute game-changer for guests. It shows you’ve thought ahead and want to make their stay as easy and enjoyable as possible.
Not only does it add to the guest experience, it also helps create that classic Gold Coast holiday vibe.
Greenery and Decor Details
A couple of indoor plants (faux is totally fine!), simple wall art, and styled coffee tables can bring life to any room. Spotlight and Kmart have some fab options that look stylish and fresh without the designer price tag.
Bonus tip: Mirrors are great for bouncing light and making smaller spaces feel bigger.
Update Tap Wear + Shower Heads
Simply changing tap wear to more modern handles and taps make such a huge difference to kitchens + bathrooms without completely changing the whole bathroom. Updating the shower head can also modernise a shower quickly + cheaply.
