Here at Nuve we do what we can to minimise our waste and run our business as sustainably and low tax as possible. This month is Plastic Free July, so we thought we’d share what we do in our holiday homes.
Eco Bags / Baskets
Taking an eco bag or a basket to the shops/markets with us is the simplest way that we can limit our plastic use. Each property has at least one eco bag/basket in it to use during your stay.
Low Tox Cleaning Supplies
We have just rolled out new amenities for all our homes. Each property will be equipped with chemical and toxin free spray + wipe, hand + body wash, dishwashing liquid, dishwashing tablets and laundry liquid. These are all in glass amber bottles and refilled from our bulk stock in the office.
We chose to implement these to minimise the amount of plastic packaging being used for hand wash and dishwashing liquid etc. We also only use low tox products in our own homes, so wanted to carry this forward to our guests.
Feel free to ask us about the products we use.
We have just partnered with local company Eco Cheeks to use their sustainable zero bleach, 100% bamboo toilet paper. It’s soft to touch and is good for the environment – it also comes in paper packaging or naked in a cardboard box – zero plastic in sight.
When you’re here, don’t miss out on dropping into Consciously Clean along Currumbin Creek Rd. It’s a bulk refilling shop with all tox free products and all are sourced within Australia with packaging that is glass, recyclable or compostable. They have a huge range of products ranging from cleaning, kitchen and beauty products to baby and pet products. There is something for everyone!
You can find Consciously Clean at 4/42 Currumbin Creek Road, Currumbin Waters, 4223 (They’re tucked in at the back of the block beside Portside Coffee)
When you come on holiday, bring your own reusable drink bottle. There are refill stations along most of the beachfronts if you’re parched while you’re out, otherwise refill before you leave home 🙂 If you still find yourself caught out, it’s cheaper and better for the environment to buy 1 big bottle of water, than 3 or 4 smaller bottles. There are also lots of glass bottle options around these days – these are another way of using less plastic.
We are committed to increasing and building on our sustainability efforts. Watch this space!
